Illustrations

Patricia’s BFA degree was in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and early on she worked in several cities doing illustration.  Fine art superceded the commercial work, but there have been a few occasions to make prints or book illustrations, examples of which are below.

Book Illustration

Pat was honored in 2013 when she was asked by Henry Hamilton to illustrate his enchanting book of scary poems for children.  They worked together with Pat Gott as editor and advisor, and Laura Ashton, layout advisor, to publish the book that resulted (see below).  It was one of the most enjoyable labors of Pat's career to imagine and execute the scenarios evoked by Henry’s poetry.

Night Full Frightful

This children's book of cleverly creepy tales is beautifully illustrated by Maine artist Patricia Chandler.

This delightful collection of spooky rhymes features creatures both familiar and new, told through eerie and suspenseful verse that will raise the hair on the back of your neck. From goblins, ghosts and gremlins to werewolves, sea dragons and the undead—these poems will stretch the bounds of your imagination and take you on a magical, mysterious journey from light to dark, from sunset to sunrise.

Brilliantly crafted, each poem is illustrated in haunting detail that captures the spine-tingling suspense of the poem’s tale.
